Winter Wonderland in ’09

berries

I’ve been soooo bad about blogging since the holiday’s, but I’m ready to jump back in. It’s a winter wonderland in my neck of the woods today, in fact the roads are so bad from snow and ice that there is a level 3 snow emergency and anyone on the road runs the risk of  being arrested. Between you and I, it’s kind of nice to have a snow day and work from home with chicken and dumplings on the stovetop.

One personal project I’ve been majorly procrastinating is the recovering of my dining room chairs. If you’ve been following my dining room blog, you know I need to find a chandelier and recover my chairs to finally be finished. I’m thinking that today will be a perfect day to get the chairs done – I already have the fabric. I’ll take pictures along the way for those of you who may have never done it before – it’s really very easy!

In the meantime, here are some  photo’s from the storm… It’s pretty beautiful!

The picture above was taken last night as the snow turned into ice and continued falling until morning.

By this afternoon,  the 1/2″ or more of  ice that fell last night, was topped off  with an additional 6 inches of snow.

And wrapped around these tiny little buds…

My favorite tree in the yard (a White Birch) has been weighed down with ice, but last year this happened and it recovered nicely! See below. Hopefully, it will do well in the spring again.

This is the birch last spring looking much happier!

Finally, here’s a picture of Sammi after she’s terrorized the area neighborhood kids cutting through our yard to go sled riding. Really, she’s all bark and no bite…unfortunately, not all of them knew that!
